I have a late 60's Japanese Made Electric Mandolin. It has a magnetic pickup in it with tone and volume knobs built in. I recently had it converted from an 8 string to a 4 string so I can bend and slide like a guitarist. It is still tuned GDAE. I use a variety of pedals with it but also play it clean for jazz.

I'm having problems finding the right strings for it, i really don't like the wound D and G, but I'm open to any suggestions. I'm definately looking for a lighter guage but there's so many to choose from.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Try these:
strings (http://members.aol.com/teesch/Mandobird.html)

They work great for me.

And I have some unwound D's if you want to try them ... but you might need killer calluses.
