I just received a new-to-me A9 and, despite not even having it for 24 hours yet, a few people have asked me about it. I'm still getting to know it but I made a quick video with a variety of things on it, mostly sloppily played, to try to demonstrate the sound. As you can tell, I'm not very comfortable with chop chords yet but the chop sound of this mando is great. Very loud and throaty. I have a feeling that when my skills grow to match the instrument, people will listen to this mando.

I really like that sound! I play almost exclusively alone, and need a mando with a full range. The Brentrup that is being lent to me would be perfect, if it were not more valuable then my new Chev!

Dont worry about the chop chords, I LOVE the ring of open string! (maybe that is the guitar fingerpicker in me!) If you get a chance, check out my version of Amazing Grace on youtube.

Anyway, congrats on the wonderful mando, and you play very good! I enjoyed all of it.

Chris, I think you made a good choice. I also have an A-9, and have been playing over 44 years, ain't nothing wrong with that mandolin, Mine has a real balanced sweet tone, and chops with the best of 'em.
