... next weekend and looking for some interesting acoutic music. Any recommendations? (Yah gotta help me; the alternative is a trip to LA to see a rock band in a tavern. I'd rather sit on the beach.)

I always go down to Old Town (http://www.oldtownsandiegoguide.com/) and listen to the Mariachi bands and pig out on Mexican food. I also stop and have a drink at Croce's (http://www.croces.com/) but then again, I'm a creature of habit.
If you want to shop for a mandolin check out Buffalo Brothers (http://www.buffalobrosguitars.com/) in Carlsbad, it's in Northern San Diego County.
I'm sure somebody local can offer other suggestions.
