Does anyone have the sheet music to Meron Nigh, recorded on mandolin by Jeff Warschauer on a Klezmer Conservatory Band recording and also by Will Soll on the Kol Sasson CD?

Thanks,
Mark

Itīs one of my favorite tunes, too. Unfortunately I donīt have the sheet music, I transcribed it by ear a few years ago and didnīt find it to difficult. But thanks for the hint to Will Soll. I didnīt know him and there seems to be nothing about him on the internet.

I'm hard pressed for a question on this board where the answer wasn't already somewhere here on the Cafe. That's not a comment about valid questions, but a comment about the depth of information to be found. You had to know we'd have the tabs here somewhere.

I think it is Meron Nign or Nigun Which means tune or melody
The plural is nigunim

You are right about the spelling JC, I'd better start wearing my new glasses.

I've already learned the tune with a combination of ear and the Cafe tab.
I was hoping for the sheet music so I could use it for a gig with a flutist this week. I'm thinking it would make a great slower segue piece to "Caravan" or "Misirlou". But, I'm now thinking, so would the "Yidish (or "Bessarabian) Honga"

I believe Meron nign is also known as Araber Tantz. Naftule Brandwine recorded a classic rendering of this tune in the 1930s.

Mt Meron is a very holy place in Israel near Safed. Safed, pronounced Tsfat, Is a beautiful city overlooking the Sea of Galillie in hebrew(Kenneret). I can easily imagine the eccstatic singing of this beautiful nign by Holy people in this spiritual setting.
