Nothing wrong with that -- unless you actually meant to kiss your significant other, and instead wiped them down with a lint free cloth.

As long as both of you are mature and consenting, it's no one else's business. I'm just not completely sure Bill satisfies the first requirement ... ... ... :whistling:

You know, we haven't heard anything from Bill since he mentioned this, ah, activity. I hope something untoward has not occurred ... like the mandolin took all his money and clothes and left him all alone, stranded in a hotel room ...
Oh, what am I saying? It probably took all his money a long time ago! :))

When Gail Hester wrote "Case Closed...", I thought that would be the perfect place to end this thread. Now though, with all the subsequent comments, I can see clearly that this case is not closed at all. Ultimately this matter might end up being a "Cold Case", whereby the Dampit and all the other leads dry up, leaving the matter unresolved...all because Bill kissed his mandolin good night.
Someday the book, then the movie, "The Case of the___________" ((fill in the blank)).

Word of advice: If you have more than one mandolin make sure all the others are in their case with the lid closed & snapped shut before you starting flirting with one. You know what I mean. It could get bad.

something fishy is going on here..first bill post's "i kissed my mandolin goodnight" then we don't hear from him???ok,he lives in italy.. there is a time difference...but then again,no one can go checkup on his mandolin....he starts threads about horror films...hmmmm?? he hangs out in discos...hmmm? i even heard he was seen with a ukulele strolling the beaches in Capri...or Sperlonga..one of those places...
hmmm?i don't know...the world may never know??? i wonder???

On every other Sunday I play in the praise band at church. One of the things our church does is have a minute or two of gretting and hugging whomever is sitting close to you, I always hug my mandolin, and have influenced the young man {16} who plays guitar sitting next to me to do so. It's fun to play in that band, a far cry from hard-core Bluegrass, but fun none-the-less. Nathan, the young guitar picker don't know squat about Bluegrass, but ah my friends he is learning between our practising of the songs we do. Always practise on Wednesday evening. Since I began playing with them I have encouraged him to open up more on his picking, he is, it's fun to pick with youngsters that are on fire to learn. He is a very good player, timing is immaculate. I'll be messing around with a few bluesy lcks between songs, he listens, wants to learn them, he has already, some Monroe stuff !

Does anyone else play with your mandolin?...
I usually sniff the soundhole of a mandolin I pick up for the first time -- and more often after that if I like what I smelled -- but that's the extent of it. (I'm trying to decide if this habit resulted from reading about it in other threads here in the forums, or if I learned it from my dog Jack and his friends.)

With Bill, you have to read the caption ... today's guest avatar: elmer gantry ... this is a fictional character, but Burt played the role of the womanizing evangelist preacher in the movie (selling himself, mostly; the Bible was more a ploy, a lure, a means to an end). So your eyesight is actually serving you well!
I see Bill is being close-lipped about his dalliance with his mandolin. Perhaps these two want to be left alone in their romantic interlude ... :whistling: ... and perhaps it's just as well ... ... but at least he is alive and responsive. That's a good sign. ;)

i think i understand it now..."i kissed my mandolin good night" this week had been pretty busy, hadn't picked it up but once...i sliced my pinky last sunday while making dinner,i don't really use it too much anyway..it just wanders all over...then all week i've been having to be here/there..plus it rained here in my world..that doesn't help with my Raynaunds..and the other aches/pains..then the weekend i spent catching up around the home, the farm..rain does wonders for weeds..built a chicken coop for my wifes chicks, looked at a house for my daughter..yada,yada..then last night,it hit me,everyone went home here, wife went to bed,the fire outside still was going,so i picked up my mando, sat by the fire with my dog and a glass, and we played...till 1 in the morning..the dog even enjoyed it! but mostly i held it...then i understood? it feels good, the craftsmanship that went into it..and the sound it can make, not the best sounds coming from me,but,i can dig it...so when i put it away,i thought about a kiss, then i thought about Bill kissing his, then wondered how many here might be doing the same?then thought might be a little creepy, everyone around the world kissing their mandos..i'm not one to join any movements, and i ain't starting one..so i thanked it,and saluted it,that might have been the wine?thanks to bill,i think i appreciate it a little more..
