I just bought a Collings MT-2 which is wonderful. The problem is, it doesn't have any room for a tuner, string packs and other items that I normally carry with me to practices and gigs.
Does anybody know of any small bags ( shoulder or otherwise) that are out there that you personally like?
Thanks

I have a shaped A style case that has the same problem. Inspired by a hint I got on this site, I went to a tennis shop and got a triple tennis racket case that my A style mando case fits in perfectly. So the tennis racket case serves as a case cover, protecting the mando case from getting banged up and to provide additional thermal protection to the mando itself. Also, it has zippered side pockets for all my accessories and I can put a folder with sheet music, tune lists, etc. in between the outside of the mando case and the inside of the tennis case. These tennis cases sometimes come with a shoulder strap and/or backpack straps and they generally run only $20-$50, which is a lot cheaper than an actual case cover. Mine is a Wilson "Triad," although people on the Cafe' have also had good luck with the Dunlop "Bullet."
I also never get banjo player types coming up to me and saying, "Uh, whatcha got in the case?"

I use a backpack. It holds everything I need. Including music books, transducer pickup, cables, tuner, strings, string cleaner. Oh, the list goes on and on!

What has always boggled my senses about cases, and gig bags is that even if they do have a side pocket, it rarely will hold a standard 8-1/2" x 11" spiral bound notepad, or thin binder ... you know, they sort many of use for songbooks. It would seem an obvious inclusion. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
I would love to something like the Summit Guitar Pack, with its detachable shoulder bag, but sized to fit a mandolin.
