So I just worked my way through Mel Bay's "Anyone Can Play Mandolin" and learned a few beginning songs. Can anyone recommend a next-step video or DVD? I'm not so much interested in styles (Celtic vs. Bluegrass) as much as just learning good basics.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Try Wayne Benson's "A Mandolin Anthalogy" DVD. It's a good one. Wayne's songs are playable, even if you need to play them slower than he does, and you'll pick up a lot on technique.

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked it up on the Mel Bay Site (http://www.melbay.com/product.asp?ProductID=DWB1&mode=hotprev&next=97189) and they rank the difficulty as "Intermediate."

I have 30+ years of guitar experience, but I'm still a rank newbie to mandolin. Do you think I'll find it too hard?
