Today, I ran over to Dallas... mainly to stop by REI and pick up a few things. I seldom get over there and I had the day off so it was nice. I thought while I was over there I would go to a few music stores and see what was out there.
Well, REI shares the same parking lot as a Guitar Center. First, let me say I really don't like Guitar Center. Seriously, I really really don't like it. However, it was only a 20 yard walk from one spot to the next. I felt compelled to head on over.
When I went into the acoustic room I was surprised to see a Breedlove Quartz FF. Wow, what an great mandolin. Just holding it made me feel compelled to play as much as possible. I suddenly wanted everyone to hear me badly play the 10 songs I've memorized over and over. Feelings probably similar to what a heavy metal guitarist feels. It was incredible and felt so nice in my hands. Played effortlessly, quickly, and accurately. I seldom get all 3 at the same time. What a rush, and the volume was great.
After that, I went to another shop. They had a Collings MF. It was beautiful and twice the price, but i couldn't play it nearly as well as the Breedlove.
I'm sure you've all experienced something like this before, but it was a first for me.
I know what I'm saving my money up for now.
