I'll be in Dallas/Fort Worth next week and would like to visit some good mando shops. I would appreciate any recommendations, as well as a good place to go hear some live acoustic music. I'll be free to go out on Wed. night, if that helps.
Thanks friends.

no mandolin shops here that I know of. Charlie's Guitars - google them - has Collings mandolins. other than that it's a desert. am hoping somebody will jump in here with a good shop name but I haven't found one.

Thanks, I will check out Charlie's Guitars. Collings would be fine. I want to play a radiused fingerboard for a couple of hours and see how I like it.
If you would let people know where you're from maybe they can point to something local.

i just got back home from Dallas. i live in Fort Worth. Visited Charleys for the first time. kind of a cool shop. has 2 mandolins there right now. One is a Collings that I enjoyed playing, but it probably needs new strings. the other I don't remember, but it played pretty nicely.
If you're up for a drive head over to Craigs in Weatherford. Nice guys, and the last time I was there they had webers, gibsons, and a few others, at least 15 or so in the store. The high high end ones are in a locked room and I'm not gutsy enough to ask to play them yet. However, they are there.. Probably as close to mandolin mecca as I've ever been.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I just took a look at their web site and I'll definitely check them out.
