The web-site for Wintergrass 2005 doesnt have to much info, just the prices and line-up. I checked into reserving a room for 3 nights and its over $1095 not including the Wintergrass tickets. Thats a bit steep for me right now. Has anyone stayed at another hotel close by that within walking distance? If so was it worth it?

There are numerous motels several miles from the Sheraton where many folks stay, and the local fire department runs van shuttles to them until about 2 A.M. They start running about 8 in the morning. It's a great deal; the motels are very reasonably priced, and the shuttle is complimentary, accepting donations for a firefighters memorial fund.

Kieth, as Rroyd mentioned, the other hotels have great deals and the fire dept folks do a great job at getting you from place to place, with rides every 15 minutes to 1/2 hr. Unless you signed up for the WG lottery chances are it's much easier (read cheaper) to just stay at an affiliate hotel.

....or you can sleep in the parking lot (as I did one year).

There are numerous lower cost options such as La Quinta and the Ramada, which are nearby. #I believe the website should have a list of these hotels and when you make reservations be sure to mention Wintergrass as they have better rates for the festival.

This seems really steep to me...
5-600 bucks is more like it, or at least that's what I pay each year, and I don't get a discount because I'm vending.

Things are going to be very different next year, so I've heard. #They're opening up a huge new hotel complex next door to the Sheriton, and some folks will be staying over there...

Or so I've heard...

Anyone have any info on this?

Havn't heard anything to that effect, B, but that could definately be a great cheap/walking alternative to the Sheraton Spree......

I spoke with Patrice and Earla and they said that the deal to get the new convention center has fallen through so the main stage will be at the Sheraton.

BTW - I believe they have added King Wilkie to the bill as well.
