Hello to anyone out there who can point me in the right direction. A customer brought in a nice five string banjo, that needs some TLC on the neck sort of dinged up, but in order to fix it I need to remove the neck from the Resonator and head, I have very limited information on doing this,, any help would be appreciated or direct me to the right information. there arent any banjo repair places in this one horse town. I am it I have a small book but not much information there....................thankyou...........Dennis in Yuma , Az

Try banjohangout.org. Roger Simminoff has a book/video about the ultimate setup or something like that. That would help when reassembling. THe setup of a banjo is Very important. A great banjo set up poorly can sound like junk. http://www.siminoff.net/parts/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_37&products_id=273

Is this a dowel stick banjo or coordinator rods? Take the resonator off first and you should be able to see what you have. They are usually quite simple to remove.

It is a Ibanez Has a clear plastic head, I can see two chrome bars going into the neck and to other side into the metal rim

Coordinator rods. Richie Dotson has an informative website with pictures of his banjo repair techniques. Here's (http://members.tripod.com/banjoist/ph2.htm) a page showing how to loosen coordinator rods; he's just loosening them to allow the neck to separate a bit from the "pot" when he changes the head, but you're going to want to take the neck completely off.
