Hello!
Been a member for some time by now but do not post very frequently I'm afraid.:sleepy:
I recently aquired, what I think is, a very nice bowlback which actually is playable. (Not the common case with the typical bowlbacks you see for sale in Sweden where I live.) Not an instrument to disturb your neighbours with though, if you get me.;)
I have searched the internet and fond a similar, but even more ornate, for sale, but that's it. Nothing more.
Anyone here has anything to tell about the Globe Musical Instrument Co.?
Is it America made?
Imported?
Age?

The lable reads:
Globe Musical Instrument Co.
successor to
THE ITALIAN MANDOLIN MTG CO
NEW YORK
THE ORPHANE
No 3354
Will appreciate anything anyone can tell.
What kind of strings is suitable for this kind of mandolin? Nickel-steel? Are there some kind of special strings available, kind of like the manouche strings that are meant for Selmer type guitars?
