Ok, I've searched for a thread on this--and I'm sure there is one--but can't find the information on what to do that pin sticking out of the scratch guard/finger rest on old Gibsons with fixed bridges if I replace that bridge with a newer adjustable model. Can someone point me there or offer help?

I spent a little time searching for a picture in "the archives" that shows one, but I couldn't find any. The Loar era adjustable bridges had a hole in the base of the bridge for the little nail on the pick guard. I believe Darryl Wolfe and Daniel Smith both have made bridges with the hole, and possibly other bridge makers too, but the problem might be; does the hole line up with the nail? If the nail is in a position that makes it possible, you could drill your own hole in an adjustable bridge, but if the nail turns out to line right up with the thumb wheel or something like that, well then you might have to get creative!

Thanks, John. Those were my exact concerns. There was a post here, just recently about this very thing, but danged if I can find it. Something about making holes or notches in the adjustable bridge foot. I hadn't even thought about that nail hitting the thumb wheel....we'll see, I guess. Thanks!

I think this thread (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50436) is the one you're looking for.
