I got a new computer and went from XP to Vista and I had a lot of problems getting all my old programs to work. Got most of them working and the ones that didn't I kinda needed to upgrade to newer versions anyways (I was using Paint Shop Pro from 6 years ago! LOL)

Anyways the program I use to slow down CDs SlowBlast does not work with Vista. I tried downloading a new driver and nothing.

I have found over the last few years I rely on the SlowBlast more than I do sheet music and tab when I want to figure out something.

Anybody have a slow down program that works with Vista OS???

thanks for help anyone may provide.

head over to apple.com/quicktime It lets me do it on my mac, so I don't see why it wouldn't on a PC. You'll need to look under the "Window" menu, and then "Show A/V controls".

Another option might be Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ which is freeware and worth having for it's other functions anyway.
As far as I can see it won't change speed on CD/wav tracks directly but will if they are ripped to MP3 first.

I like Transcribe! (I think about $50 for the download). Not only does it slow down without changing pitch, it doesn't seem to have as many "side effects" (flanging, echos, etc). Another thing I like about it is its waveform display, where you can stop the playback, zoom in and see the exact pitch of a note. You can even calibrate it for situations where A does not equal 440 (fast/slow recordings, instruments not tuned to A = 440). Also easy to learn.

I use BestPractice with Vista. It's open source software available free:

I also use Windows Media Player for my slowdowns.
