Those are very nice. The '59 les paul they have is pretty great, too. Looks in wonderful shape.

These would make an excellent Christmas gift for the Loar owners that seem to have it all.

These were for sale a few years ago. I think they have chosen a poor time to auction these off

Darryl, do you remember what auction and what they went for?

These were for sale a few years ago.

Please let me correct the record: Until now, these twin Ferns had never been offered for sale since their original purchase in 1926 by my grandfather -- Robert L. Sharp, Sr. (Kroger Executive; Gibson Agent; and Founder/Conductor of the Memphis Plectro Phonic Orchestra).

Their existance was revealed three years ago when I contacted Darryl Wolfe's F5 Journal. At that time my family was exploring the idea of selling them, but decided not to do so for personal reasons. Now they are part of an estate liquidation, and have indeed been consigned to Skinner's spring auction (Lot #31) for sale.

These F5 Master Model twins are being offered, in their original custom double case, as an incomparable pair.

Thanks, I stand corrected. It would have been more correct to say that they were appraised and some offers were tossed out there. This is a very fine set of mandolins.
