View Full Version : Decent number of mandos on hand...
I live in Eastern Nebraska and would be willing to road trip a reasonable distance to actually lay hands on a number of quality mandos. My banjo picker said he'd like to trip out to Lansing to Elderly, but that's just a bit further than i'd like to go (tho cripes, i'd love to do it).
So, i'm looking for a place in or around these locations:
Des Moines
Kansas City
Minneapolis
Denver
... or ANYWHERE within say 500-800 miles!! I'd only like to know about places you know for a fact have mandos, not just music stores that "might".
Thanks

Check out the link to Mass Street Music in Lawrence, KS, on the front page of the Cafe. They always have a good selection. You can probably say "Hi" to Scott Tichenor on your visit. He might even let you try his Nuggett/Brentrup/Gibson, if you ask nicely, or bring him a bottle of fine single malt. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Zeek, I wish we could've helped you out, being in the back yard of my Nebraska stores, but I know you're looking for something better than Michael Kelly, Fender, or Epiphone. Plus, you already have the good taste to pack a Rigel.
Hope on I-29 and turn right at the I-70 interchange. Just about 45 minutes you'll be at Mass Street, and I guarantee it will be worth the drive.
If you don't walk out of there happy and with a new ax, we're going to have to check your pulse.
Oh, and check out Cabelas at the I-435/I-70 interchange. They don't sell musical instruments, but what an experience if your into Outdoor stuff.
No problem, Ted. I understand what a stark and barren landscape this area is for higher end instruments. Can't sell 'em if no one buys 'em!
Oh, and thanks, Jim... I see a trip to Lawrence in my future!

Zed,
I live in Eastern Nebraska and I'd be more than happy for you to sample a couple of my mandolins if you'd care to.
Contact me offline if interested.

Nashville is only a days drive and plenty of great mandolins here. It is always a great place to go. Lots' of mandolins, pickers, and great entertainment. You can even tour our factory and watch our mandolins and banjos being made. Just a thought.

Missoula, Montana.
Thanks a mil, Joe, for the invite. I certainly would love to hit Nashville and see your place. Problem is, then i'd want a Gibson even more than i do now and i can't have one!!

If you can make it to Louisville for IBMA(Oct 4 - 9) there will be just about every mandolin you can think of. Don't go to IBMA if you don't like bluegrass.

Hey Big Joe, is there a place to park a 5th wheel camper in the Gibson parking lot, just to visit your factory?
