The mountains named are actually spelled SMOKY. I just spent a week in that area, but didn't see any mandolins like those pictured.

Exactly, I was thinking the same thing.

There is another builder near Tellico Plains here in East Tennessee who takes old mandolins and converts them to a dulcimer that has a very nice a pleasing tone. Mike Clemmer sells these at his store http://www.clemmerdulcimer.com/about.html in Townsend, Tennessee 2 miles from the park boundary.

I got a used one today, i got it pretty cheap!THANK-GOODNESS(YOU GOT BE CAREFUL-HOW YOU STATE THIS)you should say THANK-GOD -its ok but i will replace bridge and nut and tune it, it not for a good picker,but for playng around the garage1:mandosmiley: IT WILL WORK OUT OK -FOR A HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT- HAD TO GO FIGHT THE WAR!!!
