Hey Gang,
I just finished a recording of one of my favorite tunes - Shenandoah recorded with my Breedlove and my Taylor (and me singing) and its available for free download on my myspace (link below) I hope you enjoy it. Shenandoah is the first song that ever stuck with me way back in elementary school and I'm sure many of you feel the same.
I would love some feedback on the mandolin - I'm still very green and I could definitely use some ideas on my fills and tremolo and such. Ok I hope everyone is well!

On a technical note, I'd like to have the mandolin bleed into the other channel. It seems to be all in the left channel. Might be my setup here.
In any case, I really enjoyed the tune. Thanks!
cheers,
David

Hey thank you very much guys. I'm more of a singer who who loves playing instruments more than has an aptitude for it.
Thanks David I'll check that out - how do you feel about panning the solo instruments into center and then back out when their more peripheral in recordings? Is that cheesy?
adam....i must say that was truly one of the loveliest versions of that song i've ever heard. thank you.

Very nice arrangement. Concerning spice in food, it's been said you should put in enough to leave the 'audience' hungering for more. Your mandolin in 'Shenandoah' leaves me wanting more. Congratulations on a piece well-done.

Really lovely. Shenandoah is also on my regular song list. You gave me some nice ideas on playing it. Somehow, whenever I hear it, I also think of Danny Boy. Very similar song, both with a timeless quality. Then, for a change of tempo, try "Louise"...you know: "Every little breeze seems to whisper..."

Adam - Wow!
One of my favorite tunes as well. I love the arrangement. I love how it gets heavy, almost emotional, at 1:45 - Brilliant. And then the vocals........
Very well done. Thank you for sharing!
Great...now I've got another CD to put on my wish list :)
Nice job...your voice is spectacular, and the intrumentals are pretty darn good, too...

Thank you very much everyone. I have a lot of fun doing these recordings every once in a while. THe ridiculous thing is that I just used the built in microphone on my imac with garageband (don't worry - the album was done in a real studio) - computers are amazing these days.
Hey Capt. E - I'll have to check out Louise, I've never heard that one.
viv, Michael, Slim, and CES - thank you very much for taking the time to listen - it is much appreciated!

W O W ! ! ! That was sweeeet! And your other songs caught my attension as well:) Your version of How great Thou art was just out of this world! Your voice and the soft picking makes the song almost visual. (It is one of my favourite hymns, though, both in English as well as Norwegian.)
Now you hace a fan across the Pond too;)

"Louise" was one of the signature songs of Maurice Chevalier, French actor-singer-entertainer
born 1888 - d. 1972. The tune is fun to improvise.

I agree. Shenandoah was a nice effort, but I enjoyed Ever Seen
the Rain more. Well done.
