...well..I just ordered a couple of sets of these along with my trusty Bush's....any body used them yet?...they are almost $2 cheaper than the Bushs...
I think the J67's are too light. I'm waiting for someone to try the JS74's from D'Addario. Just Strings have them for $5.74, compared to $4.79 for J67's. FQMS does not have the JS74's.

Scotti,
I think they are on the light side too.....they sounded really "tinny" to me.
I'm thinking about putting some 74's back on mine next string change, but I really like the sound of the Monels...

I have tried them on two different mandos, an Alvarez A800 and a Rigel A+ Deluxe. I did not care for the sound of them on either mando. They just did not have any characteristic I was looking for: They were neither warm nor bright, they were not loud and they were not woody. They had just a non-descript kind of sound that I did not find appealing. I also had breakage problems with them. I admit I played them pretty hard, but I rarely have a break with J74s. I managed to break two strings in the same set with the J67s! I am sure they are good for some mando application, I just can't figure out what it would be.

Tried them on a 1916 A-4 and too much was lost. Settled on GHS A250's.

Hey Scotti and GBG. #First Quality's new catalog came yesterday and they do have the JS74's. #I am ready to try some because they are only 4.76 a set vs. 6.11 for the Bush set. #That is just getting ridiculous because I know what cost is on the Bush's! Also Scotti, those J67's are pretty dang light. I don't think you will like them but you might.

I tried the J67's on two mandolins, an A-Jr and an A-12...they sounded to me like a set of Monels that were already dead when I put them on. Didn't much care for them.

What about these JS74's? Does anybody know about these and have tried them out. I'm curious. Is there a JS75 out?

..well I just ordered 2 sets of the JS74's....from Just Strings this time....simply because they had them listed on their site.....I will test run them when they get here and A/B them against the Sammy set...should be interesting..

Yeah, but what about those FT-74s. I just love them on my 1919 A-3.

I wanted to try something heavier than Martin M400's but lighter than J74's on an Old Wave oval. The J67's seemed a good choice. The description of tinny and nondescript seems appropriate. They've been on for several weeks, I was hoping to hear an improvement but it didn't happen.

I love the JS74's. I don't think I'll go back to bronze. Have'nt tried the Sam Bush's yet.
