My mandolin has suffered a split on the soundboard. It's on the treble side just at the f-hole at the point where if pressed it would be at it's weakest point. The split goes along the grain.
The crack is right through. It's an Eastman 505 so I think I can cope. As yet it is not affecting the sound.
What be best for how to fix this? I had the suggestion of a small veneer of wood glued to the underside. Would it be best to take it to a Luthier?
Would a photo showing exactly where the crack is help in terms of giving the best advice. I can do that if need be.
