My mandolin has suffered a split on the soundboard. It's on the treble side just at the f-hole at the point where if pressed it would be at it's weakest point. The split goes along the grain.

The crack is right through. It's an Eastman 505 so I think I can cope. As yet it is not affecting the sound.

What be best for how to fix this? I had the suggestion of a small veneer of wood glued to the underside. Would it be best to take it to a Luthier?

Would a photo showing exactly where the crack is help in terms of giving the best advice. I can do that if need be.

Aaaaarrrggghhh!:crying::crying::crying:

It is best to have a luthier repair it. Whether the crack can be hid or not is hard to say, but it should be quite easy to repair and unless it is pretty big, it can be repaired without a cleat. This is not an uncommon crack so it is not anything to worry over, but do not rub or touch the crack as you will get dirt in it and make it even more noticeable.

Thanks Big Joe, I've been in touch with Jimmy Moon of Moon Guitars in Glasgow to get that done and get a set up done too.
