Case Weight

I'm in the process of ordering a mandolin and the question came up, what type of case? I thought the Moder Supercase looked nice but am told it weighs about 8 -9 pounds. That sould like a lot but I don't have a bench mark. Any thoughts?

My Rigel rectangular case is seven pounds without the mando. I have heard great things about the Supercase, BTW. I think the weight is relative, depending on what you are going to do with it. Under 10 pounds is not a problem if all you ever do is carry it between houses and cars occasionally, all by itself. If you are going to juggle it with other equipment, travel through airports with other luggage or tramp around festivals with it, 10 pounds might not be OK.

A few years ago, I spent a good bit of time investigating fiberglass cases. #The weights (without mandolins) I obtained for the Pegasus were a bit over 8 lbs. #The Price-Nelson weighs 11 lbs. I use a very good, well-padded shoulder strap when I am carting the case around.
