What happens when you cross a mandolin lover with a computer geek??

hahaha

www.mandochords.com (http://www.mandochords.com)

It's a work in progress, nearly finished, but it autogenerates lots of chords...and i've tried to make it so that it builds USEFUL chords, with plenty of options to find the types of chords you want to play.

I've spent hours generating random chords and it does help with coming up with new ideas. It can also be used to come up with "easy" 1 or 2 finger chords for beginners.

One way i like to use it, is to come up with a chord progression, then use it to find nice arpegiated voicings to play over it...obviously it's good to do this AWAY from chord sheets, but it's good to do it with them sometimes!

Let me know what you think!

This looks really great! I'll try it out when I go home. One thing that I think would be cool is if you had check boxes to have the third or fifth etc, as the lowest note. Thanks for the cool tool!

Also have the note B an option to choose from.

Yea, Root note input has C D E F G A , but no B, so no Bb either .. needs an update patch.

The last blank space in the "note" menu appears to actually be a B rather than a blank space.

Very cool.

I just found the awesome site http://www.mandochords.com/ the other night and I wanted to make sure everyone knew about it.

I searched the Cafe forums, and found this old thread to resurrect.

Wow! What a great site!
