I've got a Martin 2-15 in beautiful condition from my dad. Does anyone know if Martin ever attempted to make an "f" style? I can't get a response and I'm wondering if anyone knows if Martin is planning anything in the way of mandolins before I purchase another. I can't seem to get a response from Martin.

Martin never did get the idea of a carved mandolin or carved guitar either. The fanciest they got was a 2-30 which has points. They never wanted to copy Gibson and never produced a scroll model. I don;t know what they plan to do nowadays.

This one is a 1938 2-20, one notch below the 2-30. About 150 were made.

I once re-toped a badly dammaged '41 2-20. There aren't many similarities between them and the Gibson type.
Some people really like them for some kinds of music, they're not bluegrass mandolins.

I like the hole in the end of the headstock, good for a strap attachment.
