I got an Epiphone Mandobird...anybody know where to get strings for an electric mandolin? Thanks:cool:
Any kind of nickel steel string should be good with a magnetic pickup.
Here's a previous post (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35383).

I got a set of flatwounds from these guys (http://jazzmando.com/buy_strings_and_stuff.shtml) for my Mandobird. I like 'em.
I think Ted has a special set at Jazzmando.com...I've used those and like 'em a lot!

I use GHS electric mandolin strings. Seem to work well. Any stainless or nickel string will work.
Love my 'Bird!!
I'll probably order a set from Martin (emando) or Ted (Jazzmando) next time, but I got stuck and couldn't wait with my last change...I copied the string gauges from the sets they sell, bought a pack of Ernie Ball .09's and .10s and matched them as best I could, rounding up when they weren't dead on. The 2 packs together cost me 10 or 11 bucks, so when you figure that a set of 8 from the guys above is 15-ish plus s and h it's pretty much a wash (as you really get 2 sets in one pack with the 'Bird IV) though probably cheaper to get the set. Plus I have a bunch of random singles left over. It's worked out very well thus far and sounds fine....now if I could just get my playing to sound fine...:mandosmiley:
