Hello mandolin people, thanks for having me. I'm pretty much a newbie mandolin player; I've had a beat up Suzuki mandolin for a couple of years that I use to augment my guitar playing.

Anyway, I saw an ad for a "Washburn #3166 G style" mando on the local Craig's List. According to the seller it is about 75 years old. Now, I know what a F-style and an A-style are, but I've never heard of a G-style, and I can't find anything using my friend Google either. So, does anyone know what this thing might be?

Thanks!
Mingo

Sorry I only got up to style "E" on old Washburns which was a very sweet little flat backed mandolin that I loved dearly. I don't know of a "G" in Lyon and Healy either. Maybe they meant "C".

A thru C were carved instruments and the most desirable/collectable these days. D-G were alternately two-point and teardrop flatbacks with bent-tops. G was a teardrop shape with mahogany back and sides. These would be circa 1923.

Thank you gentlemen. Any idea what a fair price would be for one of these in a good playable condition? I'm not a collector, just looking for something better than my Suzuki, in which the top is kind of collapsing and has been braced rather amateurishly.
