Hi, welcome to the cafe. There really is no need to post three messages that all point to the same place. It looks a bit like advertising and we wouldn't want that. To make your transition to the cafe easier here (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/search.php?query=ovation&exactname=0&starteronly=0&forumchoice%5B%5D=&prefixchoice%5B%5D=&childforums=1&titleonly=1&searchdate=0&beforeafter=after&do=process) are some threads about Ovation mandolins. By the way, we like folks to take a look at our posting guidelines. You'll find them here (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/faq.php).

I apologize. I suppose I was being too thorough in my efforts to meet and greet. I did read the posting guidelines late last night. Did I inadvertently violate one (I was admittedly pretty tired at the time.) or was that general advice?
Sorry again if I gave the wrong impression.
One more time with the apologies....
I've tried to delete the other posts without success. I've sent you a PM for some assistance.
Thank you kindly for your advice.

I've merged the thread from the CBOM section with this one. Welcome to the Café, Patch. Don't worry about the introductions. I'll welcome you with a standing ovation. Sorry, couldn't resist.
Take a look around and let us know how we can help you get the most out of your mandolin family instruments.
Jamie
Patch,
Welcome to the Cafe...I share your odd affinity towards unconventional instruments, though at the moment I only own one Ovation family guitar...though the MM-68s get kicked around by most here, there are some really sweet ones out there, and as a gigging plug and play line Ovation in general is hard to beat!!
Check out emando.com as well, where you can read a review of the MM68 if you so desire by Ted Eschliman, moderator here at the Cafe who has a bent towards jazz and has played some sweet "atypicals" in his time.
Nice collection there, and have fun on the site! :mandosmiley:

Howdy, Patch!
I've been connected to the Mando Café for about a month now and share your affinity for Ovations. (Just a word of warning that many café participants make "true" stringed musical instruments - i.e. those that are constructed solely of natural ingredients and consider even likers of "semi-synthetic" instruments to be impure!) I think my love of Ovies began back about 35 years ago when, while in a highschool marketing class, I did a project about them.
Up until a couple of years ago, I was a one trick pony, loving and playing guitars (my beloved Martin-copy handbuilt Japanese Tama c. 1977 and an Ovation Applause). Then, I was bit by the mando-something bug. I started with an Irish 'zouk and a complementary octave mandolin, then acquired a mandola and, lo and behold, an Ovation mandocello! Since I played cello in elementary school, knew how to strum and fingerpick a guitar, and had learned all of the mando chord shapes, I figured the mandocello would be a breeze. Boy, was I wrong! If you search this discussion area you'll find a couple of postings from me - along with many replies - about the trials and tribulations (mostly to my bent and broken fingers) of playing the mandocello!
Welcome to the forum! I hope we all get good input from you.
