I'm new to this site and I must say it's great. Lots of great info. I'm looking to buy a f model for around $1000 give or take. I need to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks.
check Ebay for an older 70's Ibanez, Avarez, made in Japan. Not gonna find much for a grand, better off with an A style, some folks think that the strap, in your price range, is just an expensive strap hanger, but this topics been chewed around here for about a thousand years, try a search, go to the search function and put in 1000, you should find more info from the regs. Otherwise, Michael Kelly gets some good reviews around here. Eastman's comming up, too, nice A style in the classifieds for 950 from Steve Stone.

Have your $1000 in your pocket...walk into a good music store, close your eyes and play everything they've got-- buy the one that sounds the best TO YOU!

I just played two Epiphones last night. Same model # (mm50); one made in Korea ($399) and the other in their newer plant in China ($499). The China model is the same as the other with a slightly larger headstock and nicer grain on the front and back. It also plays better and has a deeper tone than the Korean model. I believe the difference in price is due to Gibson clearing out the older model. It played and sounded very nice and I'm going back today to purchase. The Fender fm63-s is also out there ($559-Guitar Center). I've heard good and bad about it. Go try them?

I bought a Japanese era Kentucky KM-700 for $750. Happy with it.
