I have had the honor and privilege to visit Mr. Fraley at his home and shop. He was very talented and a super nice guy. I could not help but think, about parking at the barn and walking down the path to his home and shop, when I seen one of his mandolins. You could almost set your clock by his visit to Hardees's in St. Paul everyday when he was able. I believe the last time I seen Mr. Fraley was at Hardees's on my way to Ralph Stanley's Hills of Home Festival in 2007.

My Irish friend Enda Donnelly has played a Fraley Mandolin for many years. He e-mailed me this morning to tell me of the passing of John Frayley. http://www.myspace.com/faircitygrass
Have a listen to the link above to my friend's MySpace clip to hear one of John's Mandolins - a wonderful sound,'Lonesome Moonlight Waltz' sounds especially good,
