Well, it won't be nearly as precious as my three real babies were, but my wife just called to tell me a mandolin box just arrived via UPS at home - and it contains my new Collings MT! This is a huge step up for my from my 21 year old Epiphone MM30, and I hope it inspires me to play more and really do the work!

I may try to post some pix on the Post A Picture board, but I don't have a digital camera, so it may take a while.

The problem is I can't take off work Friday, and am committed well into the evening, with lots of work on Saturday as well. I'm a pastor, and I have a wedding this weekend, and this morning learned of a funeral I need to do Saturday morning. Alas, it may be a fun Sunday afternoon though.

I will get in some licks later this afternoon - at least get it in tune!

But I am hoping that this will be a keeper for a long time.

Oh, come-on, play it at the wedding. They'll love it!

Actually, this is a wierd wedding - all the music they want to use they are playing from CD's - nothing live. Not even a pianist for the processional!

You will love it. The craftsmanship is top notch and I haven't played a bad one yet.

Well, I have played the new baby - Collings MT - some. Very loud, good balance across all 4 courses, seems a little tight - but, hey - it's brand new! Plays prety easily, may have to dial in the setup just a bit.

Now it is time to just play and play and play and let it open up, and let me improve!

By the way - what kinds of straps are any of your Collings A style players using? Where do you attach? Do you use a strap pin on the neck? (I am inclined against putting one on). Thanks.

Hi there, I've had my MT for about three months now and am still loving it every time I Play it. Don't do the neck heel strap button, you'll regret it. I simply have a leather shoe lace run under the elevated fret board and around the neck heel itself. Serves the same purpose and doesn't risk a future crack from an unsightly silver or gold neck strap pin. Collings doesn't recomend it and I don't think any other builders would either. It probably will void the warranty if the heel of the neck would crack around the pin. enjoy your new aquisition and have a wonderful life as well. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
