I wished I lived there. I have a friend who is a fantastic lead singer, plays excellent guitar (and can play mandolin like Nate Bray) who's moving to Athens Ohio.

I'm a little too far away. The reason I play banjo in the band I'm now is because I can sing baritone.
They had to take the banjo to get the baritone http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif .

Banjo players always sing the baritone. Guitar sings the lead and mandolin sings the tenor. Or at least that's the way it seems. Could this again be based on the Monroe/Flatt/Scruggs band again???

Ralph sings tenor. Alan O'Bryant sings lead and tenor. They are pretty bluegrass!

Just to head off any possible controversy, that last post is meant as a joke.
It's an expression of a sentiment that seems to be common in some of the bluegrass community.

Hi Scotti,
Is Zeke Hutchinson still playing? He's probably a bit far from you if he's still around Barnesville. I'm fortunate to have several excellent banjo players in my region. Filling in for various groups keeps them busy. My group played at a benefit recently where our banjo player must have sat in with at least 3 other groups. I heard him play stuff I had no idea he knew. I think finding a banjo player who has the chops, timing and backup skills is not too common. I wish you luck!
