I've got my choices for a new mandolin (in my price range) narrowed down to the Rover RM75 and the Morgan Monroe MMS3. Any thoughts as to which is best?

I had a rover, thought it was great. it satisfied my scroll envy (although now i really like an A) I havent played the MMS3. The rover had a lot of bang for the buck. Play both and get the one that speaks to you.

I've owned both. For the two that I owned, the Rover was by far the better. And, I have owned and do own other instruments made by the company that makes the Rover, and my experience across the board with all of these instruments has been excellent. MM...not so much. I would give some thought to what might happen if you need service down the road, and if that's the case, I would go with the Rover, hands down. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the input everyone. Sure looks like I'm leaning toward the Rover RM75 now. What's the fit and finish like on these?

I bought a used Rover 75 from a local fellow off Craigslist - I don't think he ever took it out of the case. I like it. I have the dark brown / burgundy model and its about 2 years old.

I haven't played a Morgan Monroe; however, I do own the Rover 75, which I purchased after reading numerous reviews on it, and they were right. It's a great instruments, especially for the price range.

I have a Rover 75 (dark finish) and love it! I had a bone nut installed and the strings spaced out further and a fret dressing - it sounds great. It sounded good before all that too.
