Hynek Pavlu, one of the best reputated Czech luthiers just started selling mandolins to the EU and USA. Here is his last model. More photos are available here (http://3web.dkm.cz/mandoweb/pavlu) or on the site of the dealer TAMCO (http://www.theacousticmusicco.co.uk).

The scroll looks dented. Headstock design is bland. Looks average. What do they want, about $400?

And it has a Gibson flowerpot, which is illegal.

..now Charlie...that looks nothing like a Gibson pot...I think the 20' rule applies here... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif.....its much to big...
please that not the gibson flowerpot. so first you rag on a builder for not using a cookie cutter, but now you rag on for stealing, make up your mind......

You guys mean that's the inlay that all the flowerpot fuss is about? That?
Just kiddin', but I doubt anybody would mistake that one for a Gibson.

Hey gdae_boy1, I really don't mind that he didn't use a cookie cutter. #A mandolin would look really funny with a cute, sweet heart and arrow instead of a scroll!http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The scroll looks rather awkwardish, but nice. I like the AB work and the pronounced fade in intonation.
Nice

Mandough,
When converted from British pounds they are asking about $1,820.00 US dollars.

Scotti is right; the mando looks like "2nd-class Gibson copy", but fortunatelly the mando is predestined for playing music, not to be a wallhanger. For us in the Europe is more important the sound, than the appearance and I must admit that the sound is very good; not quite up there with Capek and Lebeda but a lot less money.
