I have a copy of a live version of "Freeborn Man" done by the Bluegrass Album Band I downloaded from bluegrassbox.com many months ago.
It's a long, wide open fast version sung by Tony Rice, where Mike Aldridge, Doyle Lawson, and Vassar Clements each take two breaks back to back. Doyle's 2nd pass has about the greatest woody chuckle I've ever heard. It's clear as a bell, and loud, captured perfectly for a live recording. Studio work is one thing, but to play like that live! Man I would love to sound like that! BTW, chuckle..is that a good way to describe this? Works for me.

Everyone has his benchmark, and what sounds best for their ears, thats mine for sure. Give 'er a listen if you haven't heard this.
