I had a dream last night that Grisman picked me up in an old beater van, we drove around & I asked which mandolin he preferred to play of all that he owned, & he said his Loar, I said Crusher? He said yeah. Then I asked if he recorded the original album with that & he said no it was his monteleone.
Then I put a tape in the player (I know... cassette tape?) & it was a quintet show from 75. He said it was his favorite show.
The dream concluded with me asking if Vignola was going to continue to be his guitar player going onto 2009.. he said "Who knows" with a smirk on his face...
Ok I'll go back to sleep now.

you're funny, dude. Where you taking your cough syrup? heehee. Too bad he didn't ask you to go on tour with him. That would have been a great end to your dream.

One time I dreamed that I went to the Lake Norman Music Hall to see Bill Monroe for the first time. I dreamed that we got there early and sat down at the greasy spoon in the corner and Bill came and ate hamburgers with us. He had on his show clothes and was carrying a Stetson hat box, which he placed on the stool beside him.
We ate and talked about horses and mules. A lady asked for her picture to be taken with Bill and he pulled a really white, almost glow-in-the-dark Stetson hat from the box. He placed it on his head, removing the show hat, smiled, hugged her really tight and had the picture taken. Then, he put the really white hat back into the box and we finished our supper.
Oh, wait.....it really happened and wasn't a dream, back in the early 1980's.

I had dream like that a few years ago. But it was with Stevie Ray Vaughan. We just played blues together in a small studio-like room for what seemed like hours. Then I woke up. I coulda stayed asleep forever.

I heard a comedian say once that if God had intended for us to know what other people dreamed He would have projected it from our eyeballs. And every time someone says "I had this dream once...," he automatically hears..."This never happened....blah, blah, blah..."
:))
I wish I could dream about mandolins.... :(

Very funny Arthur...
I had a dream with Grisman once. He was a restaurant owner locally and I was gonna work for him as a busboy (I used to be a busboy). But I remember being so happy that the Dawg would be my boss. I cross train-tracks all the time that Dawg and I crossed in my dream. Very cool.
I also had dreams with Mike Compton and Rich Delgrosso, and I have never listened to Rich. But my coolest dream was with Jerry Garcia and we were talking and he told me to forgive some people.
Cool thread, I'd love to hear more.

Mine wasn't the Dawg, it was Jennifer Connelly. Oh wait... no mandolin content. Sorry.

Yeah. That's the problem I have with the Sierra Hull album. I start getting into it and she's underage and my imagination slaps me. The girl can play though. Wish she'd done a whole album of instrumentals.

I once dreamt I was on stage at a festival and my mandolin turned into a loaf of bread and every time I chopped, a slice fell off...I didn't think I'd make it to the end of the song...
...I think it was in response to the fact I had recently played a festival and broke a string mid solo...
