Every year about this time I hear people talking about the show, (50 mile south of me - this past weekend) and every year I have to hear about this or that, what they saw or what they bought or heard about...blah,blah,blah.
Now, I understand that the show is not open to the general public, I am not a dealer, not in the industry...
But.......
Next year I want to be prepared....and I want to GO!...any ideas:crying:

Thanks, Sandy

Become or bribe a dealer into letting you ride his/her coattails in. Ted's recap is good enough for me. From all the posts I've read about NAMM chances of hearing anything in there are slim.

Record a Hit record that sells well, and then your'e good to go.

to hear acoustic instruments a stethoscope would help I suspect , BYO sound proof booth.

since there is a lot of electronic gear all going at once in various vendors booths.

from what I gather, Cacophony rules the weekend.

Having attended the NAMM shows as a dealer for the last 28 years (one year as an exhibitor), I've noticed in addition to being connected to someone in the industry, to get into the NAMM exhibits, it helps to have at least two of the following:
1.) multiple body piercings that would challenge any airport security check
2.) exotic tattoos with conflicting art themes
3.) a mullett if you are male (scantily-clad if you are female)
4.) massive hair dye if you are over 40
5.) iron legs and leatherish feet for massive walking

A certain degree of hearing-impairment also helps. It's a great place to SEE things; I gave up on hearing instruments long ago. I rarely audition any of the instruments in anticipation of accurate assesment.

Many, many years ago when I lived in SOCAL I went to the NAMM show specifically to talk to representatives from Berklee College of Music. Do they still have a booth at NAMM?
