No need for me to go on about the perfection of Mr. Dudenbostel's pegwinders.
I got two of them from what I believe was his first batch;a rosewood and a flamed-maple. They really are a joy to use and to behold.
Just wanted to post a warning to anyone who may have a new puppy.
***Keep the puppy away from the Dude pegwinder at ALL times!***

That's why my little puppy has learned that chewing anything except one of her 100 or so rawhide toys buys her an hour of time out in her crate.

Andrew,ya might want to check the older classifieds. IIRC,Lynn had some for sale a couple months back. I think he made the handles cylindrical on the last batch(as opposed to tapered).
They are dedicated mandolin winders;and, really do work perfectly.
I may try to whittle a new part for my chewed-up one;or,try to fix the damage somehow...
Here's the perp.

Being a certified gear-head,I was sick about letting the pup get to it. (my baad). They are the nicest winders I have seen.
They fit together with just a friction fit;so,I can get the chewed part off to work on or have a pattern for a new part.
At least she didn't get to the handle.
Good girrrl.

Michael,
You think you have problems. Take a look at what I found lying in the front of my dog Skye's crate Friday night. It seems she got bored and a bored Bull Terrier is not a good thing :(. She actually lifted the Zoom which was in its pouch out of the outside pocket of my laptop case. Took it down stairs and had a chew. When I went down stairs I saw the pouch on the floor and thought that it had fallen out of my laptop case. Then I saw the holes in the pouch and I knew what I was going to find inside :crying:. The one on the right is Skye. Rosie on the left is laughing because she knows how much trouble Skye is in :)).

Dayum ! Keep em away from the mandolins !
Beautiful dogs. Just wish they didn't act like ANIMALS sometimes.
Skye looks like possible trouble.

Michael.... e-mail me at knoxdude@charter.net and I'll send you my address. You can send the maple winder back and I'll put a new head on it for you. We own a dachshund too. I know how those little guys can chew and DIG! Ours is on the large size of being a miniature, but with a personality much bigger than that. Our daughter heard a terrible commotion outside of her window one evening and walked out to find Daisey facing down a half grown possum. She started yelling, afraid the possum would hurt ot kill the dog. I wasn't about to get between those two sets of teeth! So, I ran inside, got a bucket of water, and by the time I could get back outside, Daisey had killed the possum and was trying to bring it in the house to show us! She was mighty proud of herself. Lauren calls her "possum breath" now.

Update:Just got my restored pegwinder in the mail! Not a baad wait for a Dudenbostel. I did miss it.
Not to worry. I got the new&improved model. Same contoured handle and new ,deep-curl,Maple button-box.
The original model had a wooden peg/cap holding the two parts together.
This one has a Steevarino-ish,black,hex-head bolt where the wooden cap used to be.
I mean it's not like finding out that the Gibson,Bill Monroe Model you bought has a bolt-on neck. It really is a functional improvement. There is ZERO slop between the two pieces of wood;the wooden pegged rosewood only has a very tiny bit more.
Here's to Lynn Dudenbostel ! One of the Biggest Names in Luthery !
Thanks,Lynn.

SternART,
Yes, it's still working. I took off what was left of the mic covers and the mics were spared any damage. So I just put on the foam cover that comes with.
I have to tell you when Skye saw the look on my face when I picked it up she tried to make a run for it. The problem for her is she was on a wooden floor and she just was stuck there spinning her paws.
