For all the Steffey Nuts out there, there is a nice article in Bluegrass Unlimited about Him this month.

In a nutshell he talks about how over the years he has learned that "lightening fast" isnt always best, and how that when he first joined AKUS he really had to back off on his approach since some of her stuff is so laid back. Then he talks alot about Mountain Heart as well.

Steffy has always been my favorite bluegrass player. There may, or may not, be others who are technically "better," but I get more enjoyment listening to his breaks and backup than anyone else's. To me, that is what makes a great musician, not all the fireworks.

Any Steffey fan needs to get ahold of the old Dusty Miller recording which may be a very hard thing to do. #I had it on cassette and loaned it out and it was never returned. #You want mandolin playing....by gosh that is it! #Also check out the Lonesome River Band "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning" recording. #Steffey rips triplet after triplet on some of those mandolin breaks. #Very highly recommended listening but they are both just very hard to find.

Adam Steffey is awesome - I have the first Mountain Heart with him, and his playing is always wonderful. Really talented player. Trying to find a way to get to the Gettysburg BG Festival the end of August to hear them.

He does some nice mando work on the new release from James Allen Shelton called Half Moon Bay - Check out Cattle In The Cane, very tasteful indeed!

Adam is truly a great mandolin picker, and very personable as well.
Last year at the Dumplin Valley Bluegrass fest, he spent at least 30 minutes at my motorcoach playing my Webber Fern Prototype that I had at the time.
