I heard that Leftover Salmon is taking a long break. I was wondering if Drew Emmitt was going to do a follow up to 'Freedom Ride'. Drew is one of the finest mandolin/guitar players I've seen. Anyone know whats up the guys from Salmon? I'll miss them on the festival circuit. They are such a terrific blend of music styles.

I heard a cut the other day from an album their banjo player has released. Featured Matt Flinner and David Grier. If you know his name, please post it as I'd like to buy the record.

Taking a break? - they just played Grey Fox last weekend. It was great. After their set they stripped down to two mics and brought Del and the Boys out. Awesome!

The banjo player you are speaking of is Noam Pikelny. #His new album can be purchased at Noam's Website (http://www.noambanjo.com)

No financial interest, and actually I've not heard the album yet.

their website says that they aren't breaking up, just taking a break for family time and solo projects, so i assume drew will do a whole bunch of other stuff. actually re: noam- great banjo player, but the guy who played with them in boston last week (don't know his name), was phenomenal!!!!! good pick anything on the banjo from bg to blues to rock without missing a beat.- shredded it up. first time i've seen drew on stage and someone else caused me to look and listen elsewhere.

I saw them at the Fillmore when Mark Vann couldn't travel anymore and they had a banjo player sitting in that just amazed me. Turned out it was Matt Flinner.

I hope they'll be back on the road soon, they certainly deserve a break.

If you go to the banjo newsletter site you can preview some tracks off of Noam's new album....http://www.banjonews.com/index.html.

I think I read that Matt Flinner and Todd Phillips play on the record as well as produced.

Drew Emmitt is going out on tour this fall. Here is a little blurb....http://www.jambase.com/headsup.asp?storyID=5323
