I've been loaned a really nice Flatiron mandola, one that is red and looks like an old Army-Navy model.
The owner doesn't know how old it is, and I'd like to find out.
Where can I hunt this sort of information down?
Many thanks,
stv

What is the serial number? There should be a number on the label inside the sound hole. We may be able to help you here. Lots of Flatiron fans at this site.

Thanks!
It's 9502519, a Scout model, and made in Bozeman, MT.
I just figured that if there was a s/n web page somewhere I could save y'all the trouble and go look it up myself.
Thanks again,

Don't the first 2 #s stand for the year? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

February 1995. Made during the Gibson Flatiron era. IMO Flatirons are excellent quality instruments both pre Gibson and Gibson eras I'm sure this 95 is a nice one.
There is no website that has serial #'s

The serial number would be read as finished in 1995 (95) the month of Febuary (02) and the 519th completed in the Scout model to that date.
Based on the email from Paula at Weber regarding my Flatiron Festival F. She is a great woman who will know more on mandos than I ever will. She is quick to answer phone calls or emails regarding Flatiron.
