One of those with ebony face would be xtra cool.
Gold plate is overrated, as it is soft, by nature, it goes away too easily..
Seen an overlay on common stamped type done, bound edge and all, a nice improvement.
He have a web order link? ? ? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Lovely! I especially like the finish, chromy, but not too much. Very classy!
Will yours be engraved too?

Scotti,
I can't believe it! This design is exactly what I have been suggesting in earlier tailpiece rants. This design should solve the issues of rattling, loosing your cover, etc. I still like my Price 2-piece although I run the strings under the leading edge. I was thinking of changing out the tailpiece on my other mando. I think this is definately a candidate!!!
Agree, this is one of the top versions out there. Nice mass to it, efficient design and very cool looking. He will only provide them on Gilchrist mandolins.

So will this design (http://www.buddyscustoms.com/dudenbostel/page13.html) used by Lynn Dudenbostel on Chris Thile's mandolin... His does not solve the problem of covers falling off though... But the T-shaped posts are very clever.

..so the story goes..I contacted Mr. Gilchrist asking him if it would be possible to get a tailpiece from him thinking all along that it wouldnt be possible. He emailed me back said "sure" but he wouldnt have a batch ready until the fall..this was a couple of months ago...he got back with me the first week of July and said it was ready....it took 2 weeks for the money order to arrive to him...so Im thinkin in about a week I should have this puppy.....it should be a great addition to my new mando when its done.

Scotty, these photos date back to 2001. I'm not sure whether Lynn plans on selling those... But surely you're satisfied with a Gilchrist http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Scotti,
Have you installed your tailpiece yet? If so,
has it affected the sound of your mandolin?
I would be interested in trying one. How do
I go about ordering one?

I have a '97 Gil on loan.
The tailpiece is a great design, BUT this '97 has a broken attachment on one side of the hinge.
I don't suggest that you open and close the TP any more than absolutely necessary as there ain't a whole lot of metal on that hinge..

Lynn Dudenbostel's tailpieces are made by Ken Oden. I asked Lynn very recently about the availability of the tailpieces and Lynn said that Ken was working on ramping up production with the intent to market them.
