how much is too much radius fingerboard/fret size?

I am building my first mandolin from a stewmac mandolin kit. I am going to put on a radiused fingerboard, and wider frets than the traditional. I played a friends mandolin with a 6" radiused fretboard, and Jumbo frets, and i liked it. I'm just wondering what is a typical radius, how much is too much? And, how big can frets be until there too big? Is there an ideal radius, or and ideal fret size... or is it just a preference?
