Those of you who enjoy hearing Chris Thile in a more 'traditional' mode, might check out his duo performance with Michael Daves on Tuesday, 23 Dec 2008 at the Living Room here in New York.

And there's a nice recording of them doing Loneliness and Desperation on Michael's web site www.michaeldaves.com .

MD stays on guitar mostly, as he does in Trischka's band, but they did a duo mandolin version of Big Mon in concert this past Tuesday that smoked.

That would be a great show. They can have lots of interplay in that kind of setting, and Michael Daves is becoming one of my favorite acoustic players - love his playing with Trischka in the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage show (archived at www.kennedycenter.com).

Oh yea, mando content - that Thile guy is no slouch either! :))

I'm a huge Daves fan! He, together with David Rawlings, are my main influences when it comes to playing guitar. To me they represent the "missing link" between the mandolin and guitar, their playing techniques and the way they whip the guitar is kind of a natural crossover between the instruments. Just great!

And I'm a huge Thile fan too, so...

Anybody attending that performance in New York? I live in Sweden, kind of far away. Just to give you a hint: I'd die for some sound and some moving pictures to come up on that YouTube...
