Just received my new Travelite case today and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was equipped with a hygrometer. Does anyone know if these hygrometers are actually accurate? I was using a digital this winter and it was horrible. Usually about 20 points off, at least. If it doesn't work it at least looks nice. It is reading abou 64% right now which doesn't seem accurate here in Central PA.

I'm showing about the same here in North Carolina. 62-66%.
It will get way higher before it goes lower

Gee, my T-lite had no hygrometer in it, wonder if that's a standard piece of equipment now.

Inexpensive hygrometers are notoriously innaccurate, often to the point they are worse than nothing. One thing that can help is find out the error correction at your target humidity reading. If you want the inside of your case to be 45% RH @ 75 degrees, see if you can duplicate those conditions as measured by an accurate hygrometer and note the error and mark it on your hygrometer. If you don't have the opportunity to do that, you can also use one of the methods below to calibrate it to 100% or 75% and infer the same error at 45%. It might at least get you in the ballpark.

Lifted this from another site.

Radio Shack has printable internet coupons for their Digital Hygrometer/Thermometer, and their Remote/Wirless model.

The coupon is for $10 off. This is 50% of the $20 digital!! I got one at it is pretty much keeping the same readings as my Western Digital II.

Sorry it took me so long to answer. I was on vacation. The travelite cases are distributed by Saga Musical instruments.

I just got my travelight from Elderly, it has hydrometer. First thing I wondered, it looked like the hyd. would hit the strings when closing the case. Guess I would have heard that here by now, must be ok.

Other than that, its a nice case, great for hauling around festivals.
