Are the Cumberland Acoustic armrest any good? If not, What would you recommend?

Yes, they are very good! I have them on my mandolins. I also have a Dude armrest that came with my Kimble, it, too, is very nice. These two brands will be smaller, I believe, than the ones from the maker in Texas. It does depend on what you are looking for, as to the level of satisfaction you will find from purchasing an armrest. I say, the smaller (lighter) the better.

I don't think that size is an issue here, the armrest shouldn't be touching the part of the top that vibrates, it should be clamped to the edge.

He lists them in the classifieds now and again. I don't know if you can contact him from this (http://www.myspace.com/lynndudenbostel) page or not.

If the "maker in Texas" you refer to is Doug Edwards, then you're talking about the maker of a great armrest. I've gotten several from him and can't imagine what a better one would look like.
