Coming on 2 years now that we lost this great stylist. In commemoration of Dempsey, I dug out his old tape he did in 1988.
He pretty much gets right into his style, by picking some tunes that showcase his technique. What is striking is his right hand - very fluid, precise, not a lot of movement. Also, his innovative chording - thick voicings which add a nice melodic oomph to his playing.
