I like to keep "lens wipes" to clean my thumb and pick finger and pick. (Hand lotion in the Ohio winters is a must) I also keep a "tack rag" (for woodworking) in a baggie. Press it between my thumb and finger and it seems to offer just enough grip.
I also carry a cokscrew and a de-capulator but that's another story.;) Mike

A nail file is a must (from years as a fingerstyle guitarist-still useful with mandolin), a jar "grip" (those rubbery things with a grabbing surface) to assist with tight bridge screw adjusters.

This is a favorite subject (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43342&highlight=case+gorilla). :)

I've added Advil to my previous list. The older I get the more it seems to help.

Well you asked for unusual. I keep my service ribbons from the Marine Corps in my case. Yes I know its weird, and I don't have a clue why. Just seems like a good place for them.

How about something to NOT put in your case - like your car keys?

You can go nuts looking for them after the jam/gig. :crying: &

I have one of those Oasis humidifyers and it needs to be filled with a little syringe. I keep the syringe in the case too, and whenever I go to get my tuner or picks, I'm always worried someone will see it in there, and you know... make some bad assumptions about my personal habits.

In most of my cases I have a tuner, strings, 2 picks, and cleaning cloths. And this time of year a humidifier.

I generally use my Silver Angel as my main axe and mostly keep it in my travellite. So in that case I also carry my Zoom H2 recorder and wall wort for tune capture. And that's about all that can fit in it.

When I really travel I use the Calton for the mando and it holds less (and I travel with more) so I carry an extra bag full of stuff: including pliars, cutters, screwdriver, string winder, tab and notation paper, pens, corkscrew and bottle opener, etc.

In the other thread, several folks mentioned a flask of whiskey. Does the flask fit in the compartment??

You think that's bad...I've looked for my car keys and they were in my left hand.

Now, that's bad.

Lots of picks, a regular black strap dunlop capo, cleaning cloth, my case keys?, 1 english pound for good luck, GHS Fast Fret (I swear by this stuff), and thats about all it can fit.

Pick's, tuner, a business card with my name, address, and phone number (in case I leave it somewhere I can get that happy call- even though I've never forgotten an instrument anywhere-yet), strap, microfiber cloth, some music... nothing too unusual.

Maybe not so unusual...14 picks, all different. Horn, bone, Wegens, Red Bears, TS, Blue Chips....

EDIT: oh yeah, 2 spare bridge saddles, one blank, one slotted. Never know when you'll need a new saddle ;)
