Just wanted to get my 1st post in. I've been lurking here at the Cafe for a few months. Just bought a 2008 Eastman MD615 off the classifieds. I've been playing guitar for almost 40 years, started "playing around" with the mando about 6 months ago. I do believe I AM ADDICTED. " Hi I''m Tim and I AM a MANDOLIN addict"
I've been using an Army Navy style oval VEGA that was my wife's Dad's. I haven't been able to locate much in the way of info on the 'Net..( believe it or not)
I've found a ton of great mandolin related information here and I just wanted to thank everyone :)

Welcome, Tim.
I picked up the original Old and In the Way as a record back in the early/mid 90s and loved it. At the time I was about 21 or 22 and thought that I was "Young and in The Way." Now that I'm nearing 37, perhaps I'm "Middle-Aged and In the Way"?

I'm 52 this year...and I am Old and in the way...just ask my wife....LOL......I have to say I remember buying the album when it 1st came out. I liked it but at the time was more of a deadhead / Allman Bros blues fanatic and it was never such a big thing for. It's kinda funny because when I started playin around with the mando earlier this year, I was going the Monroe , Skaggs , McCoury direction ( more hardcore bluegrass) and a guy I'd met was talking about learning some Old and In the Way tunes...and I was like ...Hhmmm.. I seem to remember these tunes from the old days..I guess after listening to lot of older original stuff I came to realize how authentic this was.......
