Wondering if anyone has tried to figure this one out on a mandolin. It's some weird C tuning on guitar and I can't seem to sort out even the first few notes.
Any suggestions on where this thing goes would be greatly appreciated. I'm a recovering tab addict and have been struggling lately something fierce.

In anycase it's a great song and some incredible work on guitar for those of you who love that sort of thing.
Cheers,
Pete

I've never heard of that guy but he's one heck of a Guitarist by any standard - that tune's now downloaded onto my PC. As for playing it,regardless of what tuning he uses, unless you can get either the music or the TAB for it,listen to it over & over until you can hear it in your head. Break it down into manageable sections & learn it by ear. You could always check to see if he has a website & contact him though that, or post a note on youTube asking for info.,

Andy McKee is an outstanding guitar player. This tune is definetly interesting to watch him play. It appears to be that the lower 4 strings are the only ones capo'd on the 5th fret. I'm not sure how the B & E strings are tuned.

I wasn't able to find any of his CD's in stock, but found him in the downloads section of amazon.

These are about as high a quality MP3 as you can get and I think the whole album "Art of Motion" is great.
I still wish I could figure out how to pick the melody line out of all that crazy finger picking and air tapping he does. LOL! :)
Cheers,
Pete

Try playing CBAG starting on the A string at the 3rd fret and ending on the 5th fret on the D string. This descending lick is one of the reoccurring themes that I hear.Just hang out in C and you should find melodic bits that will work to my ears. Another player to check out who used (practically invented I would say) this approach was Michael Hedges.
