I'm going to the workshop at Old Town School on November 8th, and the 10pm show they are doing with Del McCoury Band. Anyone else going to either of these events? I've attended several workshops including one with John Reischman and had a great time but I've never had a Bluegrass rhythm workshop. Should be fun, he's a masterful player and a great teacher in my experience.

Hi man, you will have a great time! I have been taking the odd lesson from John, a really nice guy, relaxed and communicative. I have seen his band play a few times, well worth it. Also i saw the Del McCoury Band in London a number of years ago and they were great too.
Happy Picking.

The workshop was a lot of fun, I've done a lot of them where you go over technique or mandolin specific aspects of rhythm but it was cool to see it all put together. They went instrument by instrument, demonstrated their interplay and dynamics and really broke it down into steps. Surprisingly this is the first workshop I've been to like this, considering how important bluegrass rhythm (and rhythm playing in general) is. I'd definitely recommend it, as always not only was it informative but John Reischman and co were great and made the workshop a lot of fun.
