What is a good source for a bvridge for my banjolin? I have a Grover Non-Tip on it now, but it is way too high at the brigde. I don't believe that I can shave off enough to get the action low enough without cutting either the feet or the top of the bridge or both off too much. It needs to come down at least 1/4". Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try a bridge for a tenor banjo? #I would also be happy to make you one if you cannot fabricate or modify one somehow.

I used a 5 string bridge, slightly higher than I neede. I sanded the top of the bridge until the string notches were gone, then sanded it to narrow the top to the original dimensions. After that I recut the bridge for the mandolin strings. If you have a selection of 5 string bridges available, get the widest one possible.

Some people use a flat top mandolin bridge in order to dampen the sound some.

I have heard that bronze wound strings on any banjo do not sound as good as nickle, I use the GHS Silk and Steel mandolin string.
